I could have fed this much faster than I did. I was at a very slow feed rate. Start around 1000 - 1200 rpm and do some tests to see what feed rate works best on the Bridgeport.

I milled out a barrel channel yesterday on a stock for a Mauser, wasn't walnut, but described as hardwood, used a ball end mill ran on medium spindle speed and hand fed, great results, cut was as smooth as glass, finish sanding it actually resulted in a rougher finish than the milling.

I had to build drilling jig to mill off the back of the stock square and drill with cordless & drill bushings the locating holes in one setup. Remember, the only part of the inletting that has to be perfect is the very top edge next to the barrel. Under that can be done in steps if necessary. Or even square if you have enough stock material on the sides.

It's the same inlet pattern as for a Badger, so you just need to find someone who does inletting for those. Worse come to worse, if you buy a B&C stock and a PTG DBM from Stockys, they will inlet it for free.
